IMPORTANT todos:

Check how it works on a fast computer - are the delays between sentences when
playing long enough?

Distinguish compressed / uncompressed directories somehow.  perhaps should put
the compressed ones in a .tar?  yes.

make sure it works on big-endian machines.  test on an apple (powerpc)?


NON-ESSENTIAL todos:

replace deleted log with a complete change log?
so can undo and redo changes?

change join so always joins current item to the next item,
including appending sentences

during playback, break can split a sentence in half

have only one insert button, insert after, and allow cursor to rest on a
break.

have separate join and break buttons

keep separate "play this" and "play continuously" buttons
lose the "this" button.  Make "prev" play "this" again if "this" completed playing, otherwise go back to previous.  Next always plays next.


figure out a way to make playback smoother / faster
(get rid of extra between sentences)

would like to record in a standard format, nor dependent on machine byte order!
